I've seen a film of the very first public performance of 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and it was just as powerful and fully formed as the album version. This album was a seismic event in the history of roll and roll. My only regret right now is that I don't have a stereo sound system that can do this album justice. It is something that should definitely be turned up to 11 on the volume knob.

This album, released in 1991, announce the new decade of roll and roll and is THE album of the grunge movement. One has to wonder if Kurt Kobain had lived if Nirvana would have someday surpassed this album, but one might also wonder if the pressure from this early success is what led to his suicide. Like Jim Morrison, Kobain just left behind this tantilizing hint of what might have been. Kobains death and the relatively few albums from Nirvana might account for 'Nevermind' being this high on the list, but it is definitely one of my favorites, so no arguments from me about being this high on the list.
